چکیده

Bi-2212/Ag superconducting wires are being considered as key conductor candidates for the development of high-field magnets. This work focuses on design and testing various joint structures multifilamentary Bi-2212 using powder-in-tube techniques. The joints made between unreacted subsequently heat treated with wires. microstructure transport properties different architectures including step joints, scarf etched have been explored. performance etched-joints found to be very sensitive etching parameters time, making it difficult develop a reliable jointing process. Scarf can carry higher currents (320 A 475 in self-field at 4 K) than (225 result connecting larger area exposed filaments without damaging filaments.

A Superconducting Joint Technique for Round Wires

This paper describes a technique to superconductively splice multifilament wires. To date the technique has achieved joints capable of carrying a superconducting current of 200 A at 10 K in self field. Joints details, as well as testing methods and results are presented here.

Emergence of dissipative structures in current-carrying superconducting wires.

We discuss the emergence of a spontaneous temperature and critical current spatial modulation in current-carrying high-temperature superconducting wire. The modulation of the critical current along the wire on a scale of 3-10 mm forces a fraction of the transport current to crisscross the resistive interface between the superconducting film and normal metal stabilizer attached to it. This gener...

Enhancement of Multi-machine Power System Transient Stability Using Superconducting Fault Current Limiters with YBCO and Bi-2212

One of the worst types of fault that a power system should be designed to withstand is a short circuit. Within the various types of fault current limiters, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has an extremely fast current limitation. The rapid switching action and the self-sensing nature of the superconductor make SFCLs particularly attractive in fault protection. This very fast ti...

Role of internal gases and creep of Ag in controlling the critical current density of Ag-sheathed Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox wires

High engineering critical current density JE of > 500A/mm 2 at 20T and 4.2K can be regularly achieved in Ag-sheathed multifilamentary Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (Bi-2212) round wire when the sample length is several centimeters. However, JE(20T) in Bi-2212 wires of several meters length, as well as longer pieces wound in coils, rarely exceeds 200A/mm. Moreover, long-length wires often exhibit signs of Bi-22...

پیشرفتهای اخیر در زمینه ساخت سیم و نوار ابررسانای MgB2

MgB2 wire and tape were prepared using the powder in tube and reaction in-situ technique. All samples were characterized using the XRD, SEM, TEM, as well as transport and magnetic measurements. High transport and magnetic critical current density values have been obtained for metal-clad wires and tapes. Different sheath materials have been examined, but Fe appears to be the best sheath for MgB...
